Hello everyone, welcome to today's episode of Is Pharmacology Difficult Podcast, and today's topic will create a great awareness for everyone. The topic is supplement scams. Now, first of all, before I start, I just want to tell and remind everyone: hard work and discipline are the gems to be observed in life. Shortcuts is the trick of the week. Modern-day supplements are a well-lek promotion and marketing strategy of the wellness culture and society. And often they are the shortcuts to gain health and confidence. They are taken to gain energy, instant weight loss, muscle gain, flawless glowing skin, greater productivity, etc. The marketing is so creative and scientific, it is as sugary trap to attract the lazy bees to gain quick results. Scientific language embedded in the marketing literature does not equal scientific evidence. I don't perfectly deny the importance, as in cases of many deficient states like vitamin deficiency, etc., they are a bool. Similarly, protein supplements support nutrition goals when used properly in right amount. Marketing is rarely direct and more of a flowery, fancy language swirl to trap the customers. They rarely have a backbone of evidence, especially scientific evidence. Many times dreamy, unreal results are promised like rapid detox, miracle boost of metabolism, instant brain power, memory enhancement, energy boost, balancing of hormones, etc. etc. Please get this myth out of your mind very very clearly. Natural is not always equal to safe. Supplements often contain non-essential ingredients, contamination, hidden substances, inaccurate labels, drug interactions, what we all understand pharmacologically may happen and they do occur, and sometimes they lead to serious adverse effects. Always remember that this whole supplement industry survives and relies on HOPE of people, which is so easily played with and manipulated. We being science men and people know very well that health is not a result of miracle powders. Human physiology is complex. If the bases are apt and adequate, like sleep, nutrition, evidence-based care, exercise, stress management, etc., then the results are exactly equal to good health and good heart and sound mind. It's funny, but I think sometimes the healthiest thing we can consume is skepticism. That means a dose of doubt. Please beware of supplement scams and don't be a victim of these modern fad industry trends and fantasy and promises without proper evidence and facts. With this wonderful and awareness note, I wrap up today's episode and hope it was really useful and informative to all of you. If it did help you in certain way, don't forget to hit the like button.
