Hello everyone, welcome to another episode of Is Pharmacology Difficult Podcast. Today we are going to talk about how meditation, meditation, you might have heard it so many times with different kinds of people and how it affects the neurotransmitters. So without any delay, let's get on to our topic. Now, meditation is often discussed to explain the spiritual activity. It's now being studied biologically too by the neurosciences. Now, first of all, make it very clear in your mind meditation is no more magic, nor does it instantly erase your stress or anxiety. Over time, several neural pathways can be positively affected by regular mindfulness and meditative practices. There is a possible molvement or interplay of the following neurotransmitters that play a role in meditation: dopamine, serotonine, GABA, stress hormone like cortisol. With the meditation, excessive sympathetic activation, it can be curved down and the focus shifts towards parasympathetic system. You know, people nowadays live in consistent flight or fight situation or state which harms the body so much. Meditation helps by slowing down breathing, stabilizing attention and reducing sensory overload. Most importantly, brain gets moments without regular stimulation. Now we have a very modern, racing car kind of a lifestyle which hardly puts Nava system to rest. With the meditation, intentional pauses they are created. With meditation, proper regulation of emotions, attention, and stress responses occur. By learning the subject pharmacology, we learn how the chemicals affect the brain. Experiences, exercises, and practices also affect the brain chemistry. Environment, breathing, sleep, and silence they all affect the brain chemistry. To heal, you don't always need to add some things. Sometimes noise reduction can actually turn the tables too and may create some kind of miraculous treatment or help. Well, with this wonderful note, I wrap up today's episode. Hope it was really useful and informative, and you all found it very interesting. If you did, don't forget to hit the like button.
